Overview

Noor is an Islamic lifestyle companion developed to help Muslim users maintain their daily prayers, read Quran, and track spiritual habits. We take your privacy seriously.

Data We Collect

Data stored only on your device

Noor stores all personal data locally on your device only using AsyncStorage. We never upload, sell, or share this data. This includes:

• Prayer records — which of the 5 daily prayers you marked as prayed or missed
• Mood entries — your mood ratings and motivational responses
• Streak & goals — your daily habit streak and goal completion status
• Prayer settings — your selected calculation method and madhab
• Location coordinates — cached latitude/longitude for prayer times (stored locally, never sent to our servers)

Location access

We request location access only to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location data is used only in real-time on your device, cached locally, and never transmitted to any server.

Quran content

Quran text is fetched from public Quran APIs at alquran.cloud and Quran.com, then cached locally. No personal data is sent in these requests.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account information
• We do not use behavioral analytics to profile your worship, Quran reading, mood, or prayer habits
• We do not share personal data with advertisers
• We do not have servers that store your data
• We do not track you across apps or websites

Data Retention

Because Noor stores all your personal data locally on your device only, we have no server-side retention period. Your data stays on the device for exactly as long as you want it to:

• While the app is installed: Prayer records, mood entries, streak & goal data, prayer settings, cached location coordinates, dua favorites, Quran last-read position, hifz progress, and 99-names progress are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
• Quran content cache: Surahs and Mushaf pages you have opened are cached locally to enable offline reading. The cache survives until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. There is no automatic expiry.
• Crash reports (Sentry): Anonymous crash reports are retained by Sentry for 90 days under Sentry's standard retention policy, then automatically deleted. We never associate these reports with any user identifier.
• Advertising identifiers: Google AdMob's retention of advertising identifiers (GAID/IDFA) is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can reset your advertising ID at any time in device Settings.

How to Delete Your Data

You are in full control of your data and can delete it at any time:

• In-app reset: Open the sidebar (☰ menu) and tap the "Reset all data" option. This immediately and permanently erases all locally-stored data — prayer records, streak, goals, mood entries, settings, cached location, favorites, hifz progress, Quran cache, and last-read position. There is no undo.
• Uninstall the app: Removing Noor from your device deletes all app data instantly and permanently. Android and iOS both purge the app's local storage on uninstall.
• Clear app storage (Android): Settings → Apps → Noor → Storage → Clear data. Equivalent to a fresh install.
• Crash reports: Since crash reports contain no personal identifiers, there is no per-user deletion. They auto-expire after 90 days. For a manual purge request, email us (see Contact below) with the date range of crashes you would like removed; we will contact Sentry on your behalf.
• Advertising identifier: Reset your advertising ID in device Settings → Google → Ads (Android) or Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising (iOS).

Advertising

Noor displays banner advertisements on several free feature screens using Google AdMob, including Home, prayer tracking, Qibla, guides, duas, tasbih, hifz, names, mood, stats, and event screens. The Quran reader is kept ad-free.

• Ads are configured with the strictest G-rated content filter — adult, dating, alcohol, and gambling categories are blocked at the SDK level.
• Google may collect advertising identifiers (GAID/IDFA) to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• To opt out, reset your advertising ID in device Settings → Google → Ads.

Crash Reporting

Noor uses Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports when the app unexpectedly closes. Sentry receives:

• The error message and code location of the crash
• Device type, OS version, and app version
• No personal data, no location, no prayer records, no user identifiers

Notifications

The App uses local device notifications to remind you of prayer times. These are scheduled entirely on your device — no data leaves your device to enable these reminders.

Children

This App is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Islamic Content Disclaimer

Quranic ayahs are sourced from the quran-uthmani (Arabic), en.sahih (English — Saheeh International), and ur.maududi (Urdu — Maududi) editions via alquran.cloud.

Hadith references and dua texts have been compiled with care. Some hadith may be of varying authenticity grades. Users are advised to consult a qualified Islamic scholar for personal religious rulings.

We may update this policy. Updates will be reflected with a new "Last updated" date above.
